Happy Holidays from Dennis and Kathy

Dear friends,
I hope this holiday season is bringing you peace, joy and an abundance of happiness!

In the coming new year, we are making a few changes. We will continue to teach every Sunday morning except the first Sunday of the month at Cobalt Moon. However, we will no longer be teaching on Monday nights at Power Yoga in San Marco but instead will be teaching at the new Resonance Center in Jacksonville Beach on Monday evenings.
Also, we have a new Facebook page in addition to our current one under Dennis’ name so please check it out. It’s called “Yoga with Dennis and Kathy”. We will be posting our schedules, events and activities there too.
Here’s our teaching schedule for the next few months:
  1. Movement for Peace at Cobalt Moon:
    1. When: Sundays at 10:00am, January 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st (M Body Yoga is teaching Sunday, January 3rd). Don’t miss our special class on January 10th (01-10-10!) with live music and chanting by Joseph Triolo.
    2. Where: Cobalt Moon - Water Studio at 214 Orange Street in Neptune Beach
    3. Details: A class for all levels and a great way to start your week. This is a donation based class - recommended $5 per person and proceeds go to charities
  1. Yoga for Wellness Series:
    1. When: Every Monday in January at 6:00pm – 7:15pm
    2. Where: the new Resonance Center, 496 Osceola Ave. in Jacksonville Beach
    3. Directions: Follow 3rd Street in Jax Beach to Osceola Ave. (Starbucks and the Gate gas station are on the corner). Turn west and go to the first street and turn left into the professional park. Take the 2nd right and the Resonance Center will be on the left - #496. There is plenty of parking.
    4. Details: This series of four classes will present the health benefits of a continued yoga practice for your health, wellness and longevity. Each class will include summary information, adapted yoga postures for each topic and practical advice for personal use. Classes may be taken individually or as a series. $40 for the series, $15 drop-in rate for each class. Attached is a flyer for more details.
    5. We will also continue teaching on Monday’s from 6:00pm – 7:15pm throughout the coming months – not just January.

Advanced Studies and Anatomy Trains - Lisa Long

Hello to everyone who has contacted me about Jacksonville's Advanced Studies & Yoga Therapy Training -

As an update, our start date moved 2 weeks earlier.   For scheduling reasons, we moved the first March weekend to March 5 - 7, 2010.   Details are on the website.   www.RYT500.com   We anticipate that this is the only date that will shift in the program - as our teachers who are coming to town continue to settle their 2010 travel schedules.

Second, I plan to offer my 3rd Annual Anatomy Trains teacher gathering at my house in either January or February.  It's free.  Pot luck dinner.   For the past 2 years, teachers from many movement disciplines have gathered at my home for 2 Friday evenings to watch & discuss materials that I have from Tom Meyer's Kinesis - Anatomy Trains.   If this is a new topic for you - come on & join us!    No prior knowledge necessary!   This point-of- view of the body will be a phenomenal shift for you!   Or at least get you talking!!!   And, if you plan to take Therapy Training or the full RYT 500 with Body Balance Yoga - it's a great ground floor experience & tremendous base of knowledge to be exposed to -- or re-fresh.   I'll be back in touch with the dates for this later.   Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Please continue to share the great news about our offering here in Jacksonville with others who may be interested.   I remain available to answer any questions or concerns you may have.  Looking forward to studying with you in 2010!

Sending my best,
Lisa

Dedication ceremony- We offer, first, a special intention & blessing for Melissa Johnson of Yoga Ananda.
Now please evoke a feeling of gratitude. That all of life’s experiences have led you to this moment. That this is exactly where you are meant to be. Each of us honor different paths & lineages and our attraction to the practice of yoga is diverse – may we continue to support one another on our path. In our words & actions, may we continue to respect our diversity. Each day, may we find time to take good care of ourselves – receiving well so that we may continue to serve. As teachers, may we continue to share our great love & respect of this amazing journey with our students. With a profound & humble honoring, let’s remember our teachers. Those who have paved the way for us. Remembering our yoga teachers and also our life teachers (school teacher, family member, neighborhood elder). Where ever they may be, sending heart felt gratitude. Let’s offer a prayer of intent to use the teachings wisely, never taking them for granted.May we regularly reflect on our personal practice – asking ourselves “Who am I becoming through this practice?” “Am I becoming the world in which I wish to live?” May we be the light that we seek so that others may see the way. May our thoughts, words, and hearts resonate. Please take a moment now and express what you are grateful for specifically in your life. May we continue to be grateful for all of life that comes our way. May we see both our blessings & obstacles as our teachers. May we continue to serve well. May we know peace.

We discover the seven elements of a Christ Centered Yoga class, the four components of prayer, the benefits of yoga, faith and prayer on health, uncover God's call and our need to serve others, discuss pose form and alignment, practice cueing and review the modifications for the most common yoga poses. Discussion surrounding each topic is encouraged as participants grow by sharing experiences of God's living word among the group. Training Intensive participants receive a Christ Centered Yoga illustrated manual which includes class formats utilizing scripture and examples of scripturally based guided visualizations, a Christ Centered Yoga Teacher Training Completion Certificate and a Christ Centered Yoga logo t-shirt.
