We are in the process of getting more area covered of this HUGE city of Jacksonville. Melissa from Yoga Ananda has stepped up with enthusiasm to connect Southside, Riverside, and all the sides ... to get everyone involved. Thank you for your support and guidance Melissa! She is also starting a Facebook for Jaya so check that out and connect there as well.
This JAYA group (which stands for Jacksonville Area Yoga Alliance) is for the purpose of Unity among the many Yoga Studios in Jax. I hope we can help each other fill up our yoga-like workshops so we can continue to be a popular, sought after and well known place for Yoga-like events.
Who knows maybe someday the Yoga Journal Conference will be right here in Jacksonville!!!
Ooommmmmmmmmmmm. :)
So, We will meet again at Renaissance Healing Center which is located in Jacksonville Beach at 228 3rd Ave. N. (right behind Rita's Italian Ice...it's a little green and white house)
Saturday June 20th at 5:30pm. Last time we planned to meet for 1 hour and I believe it went on for more like 2 hours, with all that positive energy I didn't even notice the time! We met outside in a circle, as the beach weather was breezy and beautiful. I am hoping for the same for June. Lite and healthy refreshments will again be available. Please bring a towel to sit on, your ideas, a list of your summer workshops and events, and also some information on your favorite local animal shelter charity organization so we can create a fundraising event. ( My goal is to choose one charity per year to raise money for by offering a Yoga Community Event put on by JAYA which means all of us. This idea has been in the works by Marci Cervone and I for the last year or more. Involvement in this Event is of course optional.
If you are wondering about membership to JAYA JAX...
Right now it's free.
This is a good time to get involved as we have a lot of area to cover.
At some point there will be a membership fee for the hosting of a live website which will be linked to every local hotel, bed and breakfast and website that Jacksonville and surrounding areas offer.
I have already purchased the website domain and will be in the process of getting that going.
Lacy Norman (pilates instructor & co-founder of the Healthy & Fit Group) has been assisting me with getting organized so if you receive an email from her it is basically also from me...was that confusing?
This brings me to another point about the group...
We need to decide at our next meeting if we want to open up to other styles of teaching such as Pilates, Qigong, Tai Chi, etc.. I like the fact that we are a Yoga Group but I also hate to exclude anyone. Let me know what you guys think about that. yogaheather@hotmail.com
We are always open to new members and always will be. Please pass on this blogsite http://www.jayajax.blogspot.com/ to every yoga teacher you know.
Remember to email me your upcoming workshops so I can keep posting them.
I think that's it for now...I hope to see you all on June 20th at 5:30pm.
JAYA JAX!!! (Victory Jacksonville)
and of course...
Namaste

Deeksha Blessings
I experienced this in Asheville, NC this past April at Namaste Yoga Sanctuary.
I had no idea what is was or what it was all about...as an adventurous yogini... I went anyway.
The feeling in the room was so amazing...the lights were soft the room was filled with light-hearted people, the music was angelic...
I sat on my yoga mat, instead of a chair which was available as well. The Deeksha Blessing givers were seated at the front of the room as they explained what was going to take place and how they came to be Deeksha Blessing Givers.
My experience was wonderful. I knew immediately that I had to find this in Jacksonville.
While still on my trip in Asheville I did some research and found Lavanya on line.
She has agreed to do our Deeksha Blessing service.
All I can say is...you must experience this blessing.
I would like to Invite Lavanya to do an event for us as a group, so let me know if you are interested!
Namaste,
