A Recap of our Summer '09 Meeting at Renaissance

Greetings Jacksonville Yoga Teachers!
Thank you so much for your support at our last meeting. I am so grateful to be on a forward track towards unity among the yoga teachers of Jacksonville. We are a fabulous group of spiritual and well trained Yogis. Here is a recap of our meeting in case you wanted to review, or if you were unable to attend.
  • Heather Hixon shared her story and vision for Jaya Jax and gave a brief "context" of what the meeting would entail.
  • We then went around to introduce ourselves, announce workshops and offer community outreach information.
  • Lisa Long then gave her story and vision of Jaya Jax.
  • We opened up the floor for discussion about "Jaya Jax Area Volunteers" to help spread the word about our group to other yoga teachers & studios in Jacksonville. As of right now we have the following members in place for volunteer purposes.
  • Heather Hixon & Lisa Long (Jax Beaches)
  • Melissa for (Avendale, San Marco). (please correct me if I'm wrong)
  • Terry for (Southside). (please correct me if I'm wrong)
  • Kate Cordel has offered to take our minutes at our meetings in the future.
  • Dennis & Kathy Lang have offered to promote to the community and help out when needed.
  • Melissa has offered to host and create our website. Which will be for the community to find out about our studios, classes and workshops.
  • Lisa is contacting MAYA and SATYA to find out about the "how to's" for future visions.
  • Heather Hixon will continue to host the Jaya Jax blog site. This will be our teachers forum/ information about upcoming meetings and workshops, contact info and meeting minutes board. (Not designed for the community ...but more for us as teachers)
  • Make sure you sign up to "follow" the blog. It's easy.
  • Heather put in a call to Freddie at Natural Awakenings. (FYI.)
  • Marci Cervone is putting together ideas for the fundraising event for the animal shelters. We will make sure all legalities are researched.
  • Melissa also created a facebook page so be sure to link up with JAYA JAX.

Our next meeting will be on September 13, 2009 at 4:00pm at Yoga Ananda, hosted by Melissa.

Please RSVP Melissa at mel@yogaanandastudio.com

What to expect at our 1st JAYA meeting

Hello Jacksonville Yoga Teachers!
I am very excited about gathering such a finominal group of people at our Renaissance Healing Center this Saturday - April 18th at 5:30pm
We will have Yogi Tea available and treats.
We will be sitting in a circle to introduce ourselves and announce any upcomming events (bring flyers if you can to hand out to the other teachers)
This meeting is about supporting eachother as well as making sure we are not scheduling our major yoga events on the same dates.
I have created this blog and will be able to add your studio as a link on the blog. Lisa and I are in the process of putting a website together which will then require a "small membership fee" to JAYA to be listed on the website.
I would like to plan a 2nd meeting date for June 20th due to the fact that many wanted to attend the JAYA meeting but could not make our 1st date.
Please mark your calandars for June 20th at 5:30pm.
For more information about JAYA you can email yogaheather@hotmail.com
Renaissance Healing Center is located at 228 3rd Ave. N. in Jacksonville Beach

To my fellow Registered Yoga Teachers,

Join us April 17-19! The Jacksonville Yoga kula is honored to host Jenny Otto, E-RYT500. Jenny is known nationally for her in-depth understanding of anatomy & therapeutics. In addition to being Anusara Yoga® Certified & Para Yoga® Dedicated, she is also a Professional Structural Integrator certified through Kinesis Myofascial Integration® (Anatomy Trains®). To learn more, visit her website at www.bodybalanceyoga.com.

This is a great opportunity to study in-depth with Jenny and learn how to work therapeutically with our clients and ourselves. Her workshop “Teaching & Practicing Therapeutically” is suitable not only for yoga and fitness professionals, but also health professionals (Chiropractors, MD's, Podiatrists), Body Workers, and our students. Jenny has added a special segment Friday evening designed to help develop the “teacher’s eye” within each of us – “Breath, Touch & Connection”.

Join us in April for a new appreciation and understanding of our bodies! Jenny's sure to fill you up with new ways of moving, thinking, breathing, and being! The workshop will be held at Joyce Savitz’s Jacksonville Yoga studio in Jacksonville Beach www.jaxyoga.com. Feel welcome to share the great news with your staff, clients & friends!

And, we are excited to announce the formation of JAYA – Jacksonville Area Yoga Association! Similar to MAYA (Mid Atlantic Yoga Association) and SATYA (Savannah Area Yoga Association), we hope to unify our community, coordinate our offerings, and share our respect and love for the many benefits of our Yoga practice.

If JAYA sounds intriguing to you, please feel welcome to come to an organizational meeting on Saturday, April 18th from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. The gathering will be hosted by Heather Hixon at Renaissance Healing Center 228 3rd Ave. N. Jacksonville Beach. RSVP to Heather at yogaheather@hotmail.com. If you cannot attend, but would like to participate with JAYA, please feel welcome to email me or Heather your contact information. You may email me at longlisa@me.com.

May we continue to serve well,

Lisa Long, RYT 500 & Anusara-Inspired®

Welcome To JAYA Jax!!

Hello Jacksonville Yoga Teachers!!!
This BLOG is where we can post upcomming workshops, and our websites. You can include this blog site address on your newsletters and or flyers to your students as well.
Hopefully we can create a wonderful network for yoga teachers and events. Perhaps we can avoid double booking our fabulous workshops on the same dates/times.
Instead I hope we can help one another by promoting eachother in the spirit of UNITY!

Our 1st official JAYA meeting is scheduled for April 18th at 5:30 pm to meet at Renaissance Healing Center in Jacksonville Beach.
I hope to see you all there! Please RSVP to yogaheather@hotmail.com
